Between Riyadh and the Eastern Province: one road, two different preparations

The road between Riyadh and Dammam is the same in both directions, but the preparation differs. In Riyadh you are vacating and handing over a home, so you care that furniture leaves by the handover date. In the Eastern Province you are entering a new home, so you care that entrances are ready, the lift is booked and someone who knows the rooms receives the crew.

Humidity and wood: what changes after arrival?

The Eastern Province is coastal and more humid than Riyadh on many days of the year, and wooden furniture used to dry air may react in its first weeks. It is best to open and air the furniture after arrival, and not to keep drawers and wardrobes tightly shut under plastic covers for days.

Dust and sand during unloading

On some days of the year the Eastern Province gets dust-laden winds, and if furniture is unloaded on such a day, fabrics and surfaces can suffer. So we keep sofas, bedding and mattresses covered right up to the door and bring them in as quickly as possible.

Choosing the arrival city: Dammam, Khobar, Jubail or Al-Ahsa

In Dammam and Khobar towers and flats predominate, so lifts and parking are the first things to ask about. In Jubail your home may be inside a compound with gates that need permission. In Qatif and Al-Ahsa older districts with narrow streets appear, so truck type and the access line matter to us.

What to ask the building management in the Eastern Province

Before you move furniture into a flat in a tower or compound, ask the management or guard: is there a goods lift? What hours are furniture moves allowed? Is advance booking needed? Where can the truck park? Is there a fee or deposit for moving furniture? These answers decide the unloading schedule.

Send us this information at least a day before the trip so we can time the crew arrival to the building hours, and furniture does not sit in the truck under the sun waiting for permission.

Departure time from Riyadh: when does the crew arrive?

If the truck leaves Riyadh in the morning it is reasonable to expect arrival in the Eastern Province during daylight, but unloading needs time and a building that is ready. Some buildings do not allow furniture moves after certain hours, so a late arrival can be a problem.

So we agree the loading time with you and estimate the trip, then settle an approximate arrival hour and notify the receiver ahead of it. We do not promise a fixed time before we know both addresses and the size of the load.

Moving because of work or study

Many people who move from Riyadh to the Eastern Province do so for a job, a work transfer or study, and have a fixed start date. In those cases the furniture needs to arrive before work begins and the home needs to be livable quickly, so beds and the kitchen are assembled first.

Flat or villa: how to estimate the load

A two-room home with light furniture is not a villa with two majlis rooms and several bedrooms. The more accurate measure is the number and size of large pieces: sofas, wardrobes, beds, refrigerator, washer and tables. Send us photos of the rooms and we will estimate the truck size.

What to do in Riyadh before loading day

This list reduces last-day surprises in the capital.

• Tell the landlord or building management when furniture will leave.
• Empty cabinets and drawers and box small items.
• Disconnect the refrigerator and washer a day early.
• Collect documents and jewellery in your own bag.
• Decide which pieces will not be moved, sold or left.
• Photograph the rooms and large pieces and send them to us.

Appliances and air conditioning

Split air conditioners are not simply moved and refitted in every case; some specialist companies dismantle and install them, and we do not promise that before confirming the unit type with you. Large appliances such as refrigerators, washers and ovens are protected with suitable wrapping and secured in the truck.

The written agreement and the list of pieces

Before the trip we write down with you the addresses, the date, the services, the number of trucks and who will receive, and we go through the list of pieces at loading and unloading. If a concern comes up after arrival, we have a clear description of the piece as it left Riyadh.

What shapes the price from Riyadh to the Eastern Province

We state no figures here; the price changes with the real distance between the addresses, the volume of furniture, the number of trucks, whether you need packing, dismantling or lifting, the floors and lifts at both ends, and the date and its urgency.

A practical scenario: an employee moving from Riyadh to Khobar

An employee is transferred from Riyadh to Khobar and wants to take over the flat at the weekend. He sent photos of his flat, and we agreed on one truck, wrapping of the bedrooms and dismantling of the beds. The tower lift in Khobar was booked and the guard told the arrival time.

The truck left Riyadh in the morning and the driver contacted the employee before arrival, so the building was ready when the crew came. Furniture was unloaded and beds rebuilt before evening, and he moved in the same day. The scenario shows the value of knowing the building in advance.

A second scenario: a family from Riyadh to Al-Ahsa

A family moves from a villa in Riyadh to a house in an older Al-Ahsa district. The photos showed a narrow street, so we agreed on a parking point at the district entrance and on carrying the large pieces to the door by hand.

Unloading day in the Eastern Province: order of work

When the truck arrives the building is opened and the lift booked, heavy pieces come down first and go to rooms according to the written names, then beds and wardrobes are rebuilt, and finally the small cartons are unloaded. Heat-sensitive furniture is brought in as quickly as possible.

Between the outward trip and a return trip

You may be thinking of two trips: moving your furniture to the Eastern Province, then a later return to move what is left or to hand over the Riyadh home. This is possible if agreed beforehand, but it changes scheduling and price, so mention it in your first message.
