Weekend Moving in the Eastern Province: A Two-Day Plan That Moves You Without Taking Leave
The weekend is the best time for many families and employees to move without taking leave from work. It is also the busiest time to book. This page is a practical plan for splitting the move across two days, booking early and dealing with the building and neighbours on rest days.

Why do people choose a weekend move, and what follows from it?
The first reason is clear: the employee does not need leave, family hands are available and children are at home rather than at school. The second is that a continuous holiday lets you divide the work over two days instead of one pressured day, so dismantling and wrapping fall on one day and moving and assembly on the next.
The consequence is that demand concentrates on these days, so availability is lower and early booking matters more. Buildings may also be quiet or crowded depending on residents, and building managers may not be available for permits. A good plan therefore comes days before the date, not hours.
Book early: what does that mean in practice?
We do not set a fixed number of days because demand varies across seasons, but the general rule is: the closer your weekend date is to the end of the month, the start of the school year or holidays, the earlier you should book. Contact us as soon as you are sure of the date and send the basic information.
We do not promise availability at all times on weekends, so we tell you what is actually available. If the time you want is not available, we suggest a nearby time, or arrange the move for the first hours of the morning of your day or in the evening.
Day one: dismantling, wrapping and preparation
If you have two days, use the first for jobs that need no truck: dismantling large furniture such as beds, wardrobes and dining tables, wrapping fragile items, filling cartons and emptying the fridge and washing machine. This lightens day two and makes the crew faster.
Our crew can begin dismantling and wrapping on day one by agreement, leaving pieces ready. This helps people with no time to prepare before the weekend and those who want to be sure everything is well wrapped before it moves.
Day two: moving, unloading and assembly
On day two the truck is loaded in order, unloaded at the new home and the beds, wardrobes and core furniture are assembled first. We recommend that the kitchen and bedroom are ready by the end of the day so you can sleep and eat normally, and that the other rooms wait for the following days.
If you have work the next morning, make sure what you need is ready: work clothes, basic devices and the children's study table. These small things make the move less tiring.
Electricity, water and internet: services that may not work on days off
One of the most common surprises in weekend moves is that some service providers' offices are closed or on a limited schedule. If you need to transfer an electricity meter, open a water service or install internet in your new home, contact the provider before the weekend and confirm appointments. Do not wait for it to be done on moving day itself.
It is wise to photograph the meter readings in the old home when you leave and keep them for any later review. If the new home has no power or water on moving day we agree in advance what to do: wait, or unload only the essential pieces? That directly affects the plan.
A suggested plan for moving an apartment or villa over a weekend
This is a general plan adjusted to your home size and weekend date.
Days before the weekend
Book the appointment, sort your belongings, discard what you do not need and prepare the first cartons.
The evening before
Empty the fridge, disconnect appliances and gather personal items and documents in one bag.
Day one
Dismantle large furniture, wrap fragile pieces, fill and number cartons.
Morning of day two
Load the truck in an order that mirrors the unloading order.
Midday of day two
Unload at the new home and assemble beds and essential furniture.
Evening of day two
Review the item list and prepare the kitchen and bedroom for use.
The building and neighbours on days off
Neighbours may be at home during the weekend, so noise and reservation of lifts and corridors are more sensitive than on workdays. We take care to respect quiet and keep corridors clean, and we recommend telling neighbours about the moving date in advance. If the building has a guard or management, contact them before the date.
In some buildings and compounds the maintenance or security office is closed at weekends, so permits must be completed before. Ask about goods lift hours and where the truck may park, and do not leave that for moving day.
Choosing the start time: early morning or evening?
In the Eastern Province the weather is hot and humid by day in many months, so many people prefer to start early and finish before midday, or to start in the afternoon and continue into the evening. The choice is affected by the type of move, the number of floors, the heat and the family's energy, and each option has its merits.
We usually start in the early morning if that suits the building, and we tell you what is actually available. If the route is between two cities we consider weekend traffic, as some roads see heavy movement on certain days.
A preparation checklist before the moving weekend
So that the two days go smoothly, we suggest a simple list to complete before the date:
- Book the appointment and tell the old and new buildings the date.
- Take out unneeded items and discard or donate them.
- Prepare enough cartons, tape and pens for numbering.
- Cancel or transfer your internet if you have a slot with the provider.
- Book the meter reading and key handover.
- Leave the lower floor and corridors empty for the crew's movement.
Avoiding exhaustion on rest days
What people lose in weekend moves is that they put in a lot of effort and then return to work exhausted. So we suggest dividing tasks among family members, taking rests, and preparing simple meals and enough water, especially on hot days. If the family includes elderly people or children, arrange a comfortable place for them.
It is better not to try to arrange everything during the weekend itself. Settle for the kitchen and bedroom, and leave the rest for the evenings of the next week.
Common mistakes in weekend moves
These mistakes repeat and spoil the weekend:
- Calling hours before the date without a prior booking and then being surprised by limited availability.
- Leaving all preparation for moving day itself so hours run past the available time.
- Not checking that the building lift or truck parking is available.
- Putting everything in cartons without numbering so hours are lost unloading.
- Relying on immediate availability on the busiest days.
- Not agreeing in advance what ends on day one and what is postponed.
Moving between cities over the weekend
If the move is between two Eastern Province cities you need to count the trip time in the plan, not only the loading time. Dammam to Khobar, Dhahran or Qatif is not far, while Jubail and Al-Ahsa need longer. We arrange for loading to end at an hour that lets the truck arrive before evening.
You can read our page on moving seasons in Eastern Saudi Arabia to see when demand rises and how to choose your date.
After the weekend: finishing the arrangement during the week
After the weekend some cartons will remain unopened. Spread the week's tasks: one room a day, and arrange items according to how soon you need them. If you have pieces that need dismantling and assembly, a short appointment can be arranged to finish them.
We welcome your remarks after the move, since every remark helps us improve how we arrange the plan for future customers.
Leave a margin for the unexpected
However tight your plan, something unforeseen can appear: a piece that does not pass the door, a broken lift, or a delay in handing over the key. So do not schedule an important appointment at the hour the truck arrives, and do not commit yourself at the end of day two. Leave two or three hours as a safety margin.
We alert you to risks we see in the visit or photos so you can decide early.
